Salted Fig and Pistachio Chocolate Square

Salted Fig and Pistachio Chocolate Square

This insanely simple dessert combines all of my favorites: chocolate, figs, and pistachio. Think of this as a frozen chocolate ganache. Dried figs and fig jam add that complex, sweet flavors to the bitter chocolate. And a little bit of salt into the mixture brings all the flavors out. Chopped pistachios add much-needed crunch to this delightful treat. It’s so fudgy, nutty, not-so-sweet, and absolutely delicious!

It’s one of those mix-and-stir desserts, similar to this easy No-Bake Cheesecake Bites Three-Way. I highly recommend it for your upcoming Friendsgiving. Just make sure that you don’t eat it all before you take it to the party!

Total Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 20-25 pieces

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 24oz dark chocolate chips

  • 2 tbsp salt

  • 8 whole dry figs, chopped

  • 1 cup pistachio chopped, divided into half

  • 2 tbsp fig jam

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat up the cream until it bubbles slightly. Make sure it doesn’t overflow the pan.

  2. Pour the hot cream into the bowl of chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate mixture becomes smooth.

  3. Add chopped dry figs, 1/2 cup of chopped pistachio, and fig jam into the chocolate mixture. Transfer it into a parchment-lined 9-inch square cake pan. Sprinkle the rest of the pistachio on top of the chocolate mixture.

  4. Freeze the whole mixture in a freezer for at least 3-4 hours, or overnight.

  5. After it’s frozen, take the mixture out of the cake pan and cut into squares. Serve it cold.
