Shawarma Board
Shawarma Board
Ever since I started my #BrownPaperBoard series, I’ve always wanted to do one dedicated to Shawarma. Shawarma is thinly sliced cuts of meat, like chicken, beef, or lamb, served inside of flatbread or pita. Inside the pita, you build your own “flavor pocket” with hummus, tahini, pickles, vegetables, and even french fries.
For the board, I added all of my favorites. Crispy falafel, tahini sauce, cumin rice, pickled beets, hummus, and more! It’s such a communal meal, perfect for the group.
Let me show you my way of building “Edy-approved” flavor pita pockets. For the shredded chicken version, I stuff rice in the bottom, topped with chicken, stuffed with lettuce, pickle, tomato with a little drizzle of hummus. I smash the falafel with my fingers, followed by tomato, lettuce, pickled red cabbage. I finish it with a big dollop of hummus and a drizzle of hot sauce. You can add whatever you want, but those are my way of enjoying them.
As always, I hope this inspires you to create and have fun making your boards for your upcoming parties.
